Claudio Colangelo began acting in 1985 in Italy with various companies, then moved to France in 1988. He performs classical and contemporary works, clowning, street theatre and improvisation. He also writes for the theater and directs several productions, bringing together actors, musicians and singers.
He developed his practice by studying Kyogen Theater in Japan, Carnatic expression in India and Chinese clowning at the Beijing Opera. The discovery of these different cultures and artistic forms led him to further explore the physical engagement of his pieces.
In collaboration with choreographers from France and abroad, he creates shows that combine dance and theater, in which he is at the same time actor, dancer, author and director. Claudio Colangelo also works as an actor for film and television. He also works as a coach and trainer for various audiences: prisons, psychiatric hospitals, rehabilitation centers, IMEs, ITEPs, companies (INTFP, SMEs and large groups).
Debut at the National Opera of Paris
