LimeTray, an all-in-one Restaurant Management Platform, started its journey in this industry a few years back. In 3 years, it managed to become one of the very few global product companies from India with 4500+ satisfied restaurants on board. The main objective of LimeTray is helping restaurants get online. To achieve this, it provides them with tools that increase their reach, improve their operational efficiency, and engage their customers.
In Conversation with Piyush Jain, Co-Founder of LimeTray
What was your inspiration behind starting a company like LimeTray?
Akhilesh and I wanted to make a solution for restaurants that would help them by easing the management process. We started with Order Online, and now we provide a holistic set of SaaS solutions that solve critical restaurant problems.
What are your company’s core values?
Our core goal is to help restaurants with end to end solutions. We are a young and agile team. We believe in innovation and out of the box thinking.
How do you build and develop talent and elevate people to be at their best?
At LimeTray, we create future leaders. Anyone can come up with an idea and implement it. We promote innovation and thought-leadership at work.
What are your views on customer experience?
I will take this up from the product angle. The products we’ve built, be it our online order software solutions or operations solutions, are easy to learn and use. We have product engineers and managers who constantly work towards making the product better. In 2018, we won the UX Award of FinancesOnline, a US Software Review company. According to experts, LimeTray’s clutter-free and easy to use design makes it stand out from the crowd.
If you weren’t making LimeTray, what would you be doing?
That’s a tough one. Akhilesh and I have worked extensively in the food-tech space, and we’ve come to learn a lot about restaurants and the challenges faced by them. We are committed to solving their problems and wish to continue to do so in the years to come.
Where do you want to see your company in the next 3 years?
Geographic expansion is one thing that is a priority for us. We have already started to tap the US and UK markets, and we wish to build a strong clientele there. From a product perspective, we wish to upgrade our software solutions further and make sure that our clients can solve their everyday management problems.
What piece of advice would you like to give to a budding entrepreneur?
Don’t give up on your ideas. Give wings to them and keep trying. Learn from your mistakes and never give up.

Online integration has been a nightmare and on every weekends, I actually lost money. Order delivery executives will come for picking up orders we haven't seen. Result was a lot of lost business. Apparently, orders are not relayed in run-time or maybe their integration server can not handle weekend loads. They sold us software for tablet order taking, also. In the entire 6-9 months that we used their software, we would not be sure, if KOTs have actually printed in the kitchen. Their reports module is horrifying and not GST complaint. Our accounts had a lot of problems with it. Best part, is, in the whole duration we were users no on even tried to fix the problems, we were having. Gives me a feeling they're a defunct company, or don't know how to run their business.

I must say that Limetray helped us to expand our restaurant business online. For a new online restaurant start-up, it handles the ordering well in all respects. However, third-party collaboration has to be more advanced at certain levels. Great way to save operational cost.

Limtray is a great POS system for mid-level restaurants. Its Omni-channel online order management is quite impressive. However, we find its customer engagement features little less efficient. We lost the track of few customers with low server. Push notification has to be timelier. You can easily send customized campaigns to the customers and retain them easily.

Though I am in all praise with the reporting of Lime tray, I would like to see better third-party collaboration. The POS is working par excellence with our in-house customers; it lacks dependability at some levels when it comes to online ordering.

Limetray POS is a great option if you are a mid-scale or start-up restaurant business as it modules are quite limited in comparison to other POS software. However, it is a great deal in its category. It offers a lot to the start-ups and helps them to save operational cost.
Robust API, web-based deployment system, one-time payment system. Reporting is fast and accurate.
There is no mobile support which limits its functionality. In addition, we had a tough time working over it when inventory list was in making. Inventory management should be more efficient.
