Bought this out of compulsion
The Tally Prime is on e of the most widely used software in India. I bought this as there is no better alternative to it. The software do not works online and have serious issues with user management. The Pros are - Very easy to use, full of shortcut keys, detailed reports available for GST, TDS, Payrolls, cons: Lack of flexibility in user management, User roll creation, cloud platform unavailable, Financial statements as per Companies Act not available which were available in Tally ERP 9, Customer support is very poor as most of the support executives cant even normal hindi.

I am using tally from last more than 10 years, and I found this is the only software for accounting, returns for keeping safe records, and where I go there I see their accounting on telly so we can know its popularity. Simple and easy to use without prior accounting knowledge
Tally's uniqueness is the ability to learn basic accounting using the package. Anyone with basic data entry knowledge can create vouchers and journal entries and arrive at I&E and Balance Sheet reports. It's a great software package.

Best Accounting Software for Mid Size Businesses
We are into business of providing Book-keeping services to our clients and for that we were requiring such accounting software which could help us to maintain data of multiple company on same license and at the same it shall also be able to generate various reports so that our client could easily be impressed with our work. This was the main reason we jump to Tally which later updated into TallyPrime. TallyPrime has more accessibility than Tally ERP 9. GST return filing with Tally software is one of the important thing one can easily appreciate. My overall experience with TallyPrime is by far good. Though I think there are few features such as Payroll Management for manpower companies, POS billing, etc. are the thing which should be there in TallyPrime (these features can be achieved through TDL/modules, but it will cost you additional money).

Multiple Company Creation with one licence makes it cost-effective. GST report Generation,especially GSTR-1 for B2B transaction which can take your lot of time if you do it online becomes very easy and time-saving. Tally is one of the easy to use product with their shortcut keys which increases you efficiency.
Cons
We use silver version of TallyPrime and the most important feature that we miss in that is to use it anywhere with cloud technology. We are paying additional amount to use this feature, I think this should be part of the software. We mail our invoices directly from TallyPrime to client but everytime we login, it will ask for Password which quite irritating.

Unlike VAT GST was very cumbersome and especially inter state trades bifurcation was a tedious process a simple ledger created by Tally ERP system takes away the burden and ensures error free transaction,the software cost is pocket friendly, haven't had any issue do haven't had need to use customer service, the pool of people available readily trained in Tally ERP helps easy replacement when there is staff sick or quilting

Tally is Offline Software and works in the Traditional Way of accounting. Day by day with new modifications It's becoming more Complicated. Its cost is fine. It is worth having it. However, as transactions complicate, and slowly as you introduce automation in your business, especially when it is a service-based industry, the trouble begins. One needs custom modules to streamline various businesses, and that's way rigidity of Tally causes issues. I would rather opt for open source systems which can be tweaked with the help of a developer than Tally, whose code is proprietary. Plus, Tally works wonders on Windows Machine, but if you want to access it remotely, or anywhere, there is no web module as such. Overall, I would recommend it for small business only.

Over all tally is the one of the best options for accounting but when I think of other options which offer me entering transactions from anywhere its becomes difficult to judge it. Tally do not provide data on the cloud is one more feature required in todays word. One can not enter transactions remotely. Importing transactions in tally is not easy. Features I really liked are GST Reports, Auditing and Analysis tools, TDS compliance features, Budget features, Inventory management tools. The speed of entering transactions is lightning fast with the help of shortcut keys. GST filling, Drawing Financial statements as required under Companies Act 2013, TDS Return calculations, Interest calculation and Budgeting are far more easy with the help of Tally. One more feature which I use frequently is importing Bank statement.

Very Good Software.
In my opinion it is overall easy to use and good software to handle accounting and GST . Since it is an old software it has great market share, many people know how to use it, training staff on this software is also very easy, it cost is bit high now due to more demand but overall its good software. Less mark for support since its not that accessible, i was not happy with their support over phone since we have to give time on call.

There is no problem about tallys performance. But, some features need to insert. Suppose, if there is want to check the payment and receipt before printing multi column account book. That time we cannot view at a glance before printing both cash and bank ledger. At same time if there is mistake, then we have reprint after editing. 2) We cannot print particular page of cash or bank book even after there is no need. This is the destruction of environment. Easy and convenient- but only for small and medium companies.
Tally is a good software for accounting and maintaining books but only for small and medium size organization. It's easy to learn, everything is visible on a single page, entries are easy to make and edit, but there is no authorization on the software I.e anyone can make an entry any time, delete the same, edit the same - there's won't be any track that who did the same. For large enterprises, it won't easily work because tally won't be able to handle large data, categories etc.

Best Accounting Software, but tight for the pocket
Tally is the best Accounting Software as well as ERP Management Software. No other Software can provide support for every type of business entity, while, most of the accounting software is based on the Tally Architecture. But as its best, its Price too. It cost around 18,000 INR for a single user and around 56,000 for multi-user setup. It somehow is not affordable for small and medium size Traders. So it depends on the customer to buy or not. But yet, its worth for money.

I have been using this software since last 2.5 years before which I have used tally 7.2 and 5.4 for some around 2-3 years. I have also tried using busy accounting and quickbooks but was not successful with it and hence I have now made my to go with tally only. PRO'S : 1. Worlds most user friendly software. 2. Does not require internet always. 3. Commercially known and used by many people hence it makes it most compatible to share, in case if you have to. 4. Now with ERP version you can do all what you always wanted. CON'S : 1. It completely fails and lags when used by many people at same time, which means it cannot handle huge traffic. 2. Remote access problems, it means even if it is called ERP but the remote access is some what complicated when you compare it with QuickBooks. 3. Cost is an important factors where tally does not score much. Any if have a small business like us with limited users then there's nothing like tally if display very important reports quickly but still need to improve in lines with QuickBooks, but i will use this for at least 3 more years.

Excellent Software for all type of industry
Tally ERP 9 is best software not only for small businesses but also for medium and large industry. It's not limited to accounting point of view rather it delivers lots of statutory & financial reports which I think no other software provide at comparative price. It also provides ERP solution. So It's a software with affordable price and give best performance. Even I am using Tally since last many years and don't want to change software because of it's user friendliness.
