David Leigh is a recent graduate of the Metropolitan Opera's Lindemann Young Artist Development Programme. Previous engagements include his debuts as King Marke (Tristan und Isolde) at the Santa Fe Opera and as the Commander (Don Giovanni) at the Opernhaus Zürich, the title role in Abrahamsen's The Snow Queen at the Opéra national du Rhin, and Sarastro (The Magic Flute) at the Opéra national de Lorraine, a role he later sang with the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto.
In concert, he sang Beethoven's 9th Symphony with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal and Mozart's Requiem with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. He made his debuts with the Seattle Opera as Prince Gremin (Eugene Onegin), the San Francisco Opera as Zuniga (Carmen), the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto as Turbo (Wainwright's Hadrien), the Kentucky Opera as Sparafucile (Rigoletto) and the Bavarian State Opera in Munich as Colline (La Bohème).
He made his debut as Fafner (Siegfried) at the Opernhaus Zurich. On the concert front, he made his debut with Jacaranda Music in Los Angeles for the world premiere of Arkhipov by Knell and Fleischman. Last season he sang Hagen (Twilight of the Gods) at the Zurich Opera House, the Commander at the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto and Sarastro (The Magic Flute) at the Ravinia Festival. In the 2024-2025 season, his roles include Rocco (Fidelio) in Washington and John Claggart (Billy Budd) in Buenos Aires.
