Winner of the 2018 Critics' Circle Emerging Talent Award, Jennifer France has performed the title role of La Petite Renarde rusée at Holland Park, Alice (Alice's Adventures Under Ground) and Lessons in Love and Violence by Gerald Barry at London's Royal Opera House, the Princess (Orphée by Philip Glass) at English National Opera, the title role of Sémélé at the Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Ophelia (Brett Dean's Hamlet) for Glyndebourne On Tour, Marzelline (Fidelio), Susana (The Marriage of Figaro) and Princess Elsbeth (Fantasio) for Garsington Opera, Le Feu / Le Rossignol (L'Enfant et les Sortilèges) in a concert version with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Lessons in Love and Violence for Amsterdam National Opera and Zerbinetta (Ariane à Naxos) for Netherlands Reisopera, where she was nominated for a Schaunard Award.
In recent seasons she has appeared as Zerbinetta at Garsington Opera and Opera North, made her English National Opera debut as Mary (Jake Heggie's It's A Wonderful Life), returned to London's Royal Opera House for Iphis (Jephtha) and Despina (Così fan tutte) and to Garsington Opera for A Trip to the Moon. In concert, she has appeared with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the BBC Proms, the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra at the Edinburgh Festival, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre national de Lyon.
She participated in the world premiere of Brett Dean's In This Brief Moment with the Birmingham Orchestra. In the 2024-2025 season, she sang the role of the First Niece (Peter Grimes) at the Teatro alla Scala in Rome and appeared in Boris Lyatoshinsky's Romeo and Juliet and Mahler's 8th Symphony. In July 2025 she will sing the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor at Holland Park.
